Ruth Aileen Jackson

Ruth Aileen Jackson, 96, of Gonzales, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016. She was born January 22, 1920 in the Little New York community, the daughter of Thomas and Albertine Grasse Shepherd. Ruth married Delmas Fredrick Jackson on April 25, 1936 in Harwood, TX. She was a homemaker, was an excellent cook, enjoyed sewing and made her own dresses. She was a lifelong member of Eastside Baptist Church, a member of the Reapers Sunday School Class and was very active in all church activities along with her husband who was a long time deacon. She is survived by her son Jay Jackson of Gonzales; sister Laurie Nipper and husband Jack of Kyle and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Carolyn Janelle Jackson, sisters Lois DeBerry and Elsie Cooksey, brothers Morgan Shepherd and Zilman Shepherd. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gonzales City Cemetery with Reverend Hollas Hoffman officiating. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
