Patsy Lee Eckols, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on April 8, 2024 in Dripping Springs, Texas at the age of 96.  She was born in Gonzales on September 1, 1927 to Lee and Hettie Wilson.

After graduating from Gonzales High School and attending college, she returned to Gonzales and married Fred Brown on June 1, 1948.  She and Fred raised their four children in the Belmont area surrounded by extended family, cattle and many friends.  Patsy worked as the bookkeeper for the family business.

Ten years after her husband Fred’s passing, Patsy, married Lewis (Honey) Eckols on September 14, 1996. Both active in the First Baptist Church in Gonzales, where Patsy taught Sunday school and volunteered in the library.  They enjoyed fifteen years together before Honey passed away. She then moved to Dripping Springs and Laguna Vista to be closer to family.

Patsy was an avid reader, enjoying British crime novels as well as poetry, history and of course her Bible. A fantastic cook, she hosted large family gatherings and beat everyone in Scrabble, Mah Jong and 42.  She was a talented cross stitcher and completed intricate and colorful patterns to give to family and friends. Patsy never lost interest in life and cared deeply about those around her. Although often the quietest in the room, her presence was always felt. Everyone stilled when she had something to say and often sought her counsel. Pat lived a full and meaningful life and touched many with her kindness and humor. Loved by many, she will be sorely missed.

Patsy is preceded in death by Fred Tyre Brown, Sr., Lewis Eckols, son, Bruce Brown and grandson, Laval Brown, her parents and brother, Donald Wilson.

She is survived by her children Fred Tyre Brown, Jr. (Sandra); M Lee Brown (Mary Alice); and Donna Brown Willis (Bob), daughter-in-law, Debbie Brown. stepchildren Deb Eckols (Tim Miller), and Steve Eckols.  Her grandchildren include Rachel Wilchester (JJ), Ty Pirkle, Michael Durrett (Holli), Russell Durrett, Lucas Brown (Amber), Bryan Brown, and Andrea Brown.  She had 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Amy Wilson (niece) and Greg Wilson (nephew).

The family extends a special thank you to Lavender Springs Assisted Living in Dripping Springs for the special care provided to Patsy for the last five years.  Her time at the facility provided a safe and loving place to call home where she enjoyed the staff and friends.  Additional thanks to Ryan Carpenter with Austin Geriatric Specialists.
