Randall Underwood Sweeney, Jr.

Randall Underwood Sweeney, Jr., 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 16, 2023. He was born July 12, 1937, in Nashville, TN to Randall Underwood Sweeney, Sr. and Louis Dorothy Jenkins Sweeney.  He married his soul-mate Barbara June Sweeney on August 16, 1957, in Portland, TN.  He worked for Ralston Purina Company for 42 years relocating to many locations during his career including Lake City, FL, Tampa, FL; Shreveport, LA; and finally, to Gonzales, TX in 1979.  Randall retired in 2001. He was a member of the Gonzales Church of Christ. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Phillip Sweeney and Stacia Sweeney of Gonzales; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Brent Barnick.  Grand-daughter and husband, Brenna Barnick Patton and Doug Patton; Step-grandson and wife, Cody and Brittany Lawrence; Great Grandchildren Blair and Davis Patton and Evlynn Lawrence. His brother, Bob Sweeney of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Buddy Harper of Chattanooga, TN, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his wife June Sweeney, his parents, Mr & Mrs. Randall Underwood Sweeney, Sr.; and step-grandson Justen Lawrence.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Gonzales Church of Christ.  Interment will follow at the Denton Creek Cemetery.
