OBITUARY

Phillip Joseph “P.J.” Borowitz

Posted

It is with deep sadness that we have to announce the passing of Phillip Joseph “P.J.” Borowitz on June 3, 2023 when he lost his battle with cancer. He is survived by his parents, Phillip and Joann Borowitz, his sister Tracey Borowitz Twardowski, and his son Dylan. As well as his extended family in Texas and Illinois.

He was born at St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis, Illinois, February 24, 1965 to Phillip and JoAnn Borowitz. As a young child, the family moved to Texas, where he attended Dulles High School and went on to take law courses at Alvin Community College. While he did not pursue law, he did work his whole life doing things he found he enjoyed more like home restorations and machining.

He was a man of few words but had many talents and hobbies. He spent most of his free time playing guitar and writing music for his band Sinister Cain. He spent countless hours over the course of 25 years prefecting his musical craft and performing. They played all over Texas, and he loved every minute of it.

He also enjoyed creating art, fishing with friends and family, and spending time in nature, but most of all, he fiercely loved his family. He often kept to himself but was an honorable man and will be missed by all who had the privilege of truly knowing him.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday June 19, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church with Reverend Jason Martini officiating.  Visitation will precede the Mass from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the church.
