Posted

Kenneth “Kenny” Dale Ehrig, 75, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 8th at Live Oaks Estates of Austin, surrounded by his family, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. He was born January 28th, 1948, in Gonzales, Texas to Helmuth and Alma Breitschopf Ehrig, he was the youngest of three boys.

Kenny was a 1966 graduate of Gonzales High School. He followed his brother, Ronnie Ehrig, playing football for The University of Texas. He was a senior on the Longhorns’ 1969 National Championship football team and earned his degree in business. Kenneth was a senior pharmaceutical representative, awarded as a top salesman, and was a favorite with all the doctors.

He met his wife, Nancy, while she was working for her father, Dr. James M. Graham. They married on September 2, 1978. They raised their children in Austin and have immensely helped their daughter Susan raise her own sons.

Kenny is remembered for his steadfast loyalty, deep love of family, kindness, playful sense of humor, and sweet personality mixed with his German stubbornness. He was always ready to help anyone and tried to put a smile on everyone’s face. He was the kind of neighbor who would stop and chat with anyone, would mow your lawn, and would pump out flooding in everyone’s yards after rains. He was beloved by every dog he met, and he adored and doted on the family’s two sets of twin dachshunds for the last thirty years. Kenny was a wonderful father and Opa, and he loved supporting his children and grandchildren’s activities and interests. Education was very important to him, and he helped in providing many opportunities for them. He especially loved continuing faith, heritage and athletic traditions with his family. Kenny was a member of Hermann Sons, T Association, and the First United Methodist Church.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David Lee Ehrig and Ronald Louis Ehrig.
