Josephine Margene Herschap

Josephine Margene Herschap, 89, of Cost and formerly of Gonzales, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Josephine was born November 23, 1934 in Fayette County to Sherman and Lela Marburger Ivy. She married Ross Alex Herschap in 1950 in Gonzales, Texas. She had been a member of the Eastside Baptist Church.

Josephine grew up in the Cistern area of Fayette County. She enjoyed hunting squirrels and other small animals. After marrying Ross, she helped him work in his chicken houses and maintained a lovely home for her family. Memories of her chicken fried steak will be forever treasured.

Josephine was a devout Christian and led her family with her faith in the Word of God. She was a loving and doting mother and grandmother, who always had a glass of sweet tea ready for visiting family and friends.

Josephine is survived by her loving daughter, Janet Lindemann of Cost, grandchildren, Brian Kelley “Rachel” and Krystal Filip. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Ronald James Herschap, and brother, Buford Ivy.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am Saturday, December 2, 2023 in Gonzales Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Honorary Pallbearer: Raymond Padgett. Friends may leave their condolences to the family by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.
