Edward Thorton “Eddie” Iley

Edward Thorton “Eddie” Iley was born October 22, 1943 in Wrightsboro, Texas and entered Heaven’s gates on Friday, September 15, 2023.

Eddie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for 2 years. He attended Huntsville State College worked as a Master Electrician with Shell Oil Company for 14 years. He owned and operated his own contracting company, Trinity Construction for 10 years. He also built and supervised self-storage properties for many years.

He loved spending his time fishing, hunting, camping, and motor homing around the United States and teaching his grandchild to love this life too.

He had a love and passion for studying the word of God. Eddie was called to start a Youth Ministry in Friendswood, TX where many youths and their parents came to know the Lord! Eddie will always be remembered by his family and friends for the many lives he had touched in his 80 years of life.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie Stanley Iley, daughter and son-in-law, Dena Lynne Iley Sanchez and Billy, his granddaughter, Nicole Marie Sanchez, great-grandchildren, Brooke Lynne Sanchez, Ayden Tyan Wood, and Aryanna Raelynn Cubic. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Virgie Iley, and brothers, James and Paul Iley.

The family will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am Thursday, September 21, 2023 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 am in the Seydler-Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Kirkwood officiating. Interment will follow in Wrightsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers: Billy Sanchez, James Price, Ayden Wood, Ches Elley, Brooke Sanchez and Tommy Tatum. In lieu of flowers, friends may memorial donations to The ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209.
