Charles Polk Chenault III

Charles Polk Chenault III, 71, of Austin, was born July 22, 1944 and went home to be with his Lord on June 22, 2016 in San Antonio.

He grew up in Gonzales and lived there until enlisting in the Air Force and serving in Vietnam. He continued service to his country by joining the Air National Guard, retiring as a Sr. Master Sergeant.

During this time he worked as an electrical engineer at Texas Instruments and Raytheon. Charles was a longtime member of Pond Springs Baptist Church. More recently he became very involved with his beloved church, Crystal Lake Baptist Church, where he worshipped, helped with building and yard maintenance, and drove the kids’ barrel train at social affairs.

He was also a devoted baseball fan, holding season tickets to the Round Rock Express. Above all, he was kind, gentle, generous, and loving, devoted to his family and friends.

Charles is preceded in death by his mother, Carey Fleda Chenault; father,   Charles Polk Chenault; and brother, Thomas Dudley Chenault. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Gail Chenault and three children, Thomas Kelley Chenault of Round Rock, Cheri Quattlebaum and husband Matt of Keller, and Melissa Lucas of Cedar Park. Grandchildren include Kaycie Lucas, Karsyn Lucas, Kooper Lucas, Lauren Quattlebaum, and Reid Quattlebaum.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Rd. in Austin. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 26 at 2 p.m. at Crystal Lake Baptist Church in Leander.  Interment will follow in Gonzales.
