Billy Don Parker

Billy Don Parker, 95, of Gonzales, Texas,passed away on December 4, 2023. He was born on September 26, 1928, in the Slayden Community, to the late Lewis Malcomb Parker and Mayme Ruth Parker. Billy was a devoted son, husband, father, and friend. He committed his life to working to take care of those he loved.

After the passing of his father when he was just fourteen years old, Billy and his brothers worked tirelessly to continue their father's legacy. In 1959, Billy married Linda Katherine Figley, and together they began their family. Their children, Billy Jr. and Ruth Ann, were born in 1967 and 1969, respectively. Billy took great pride in his family and cherished the moments spent with them.

Billy proudly served in the Army and was honorably discharged after petitioning to return home to help his mother during a drought. Following his military service, Billy pursued a career as a cattle and poultry rancher. He dedicated himself to his work and found fulfillment in caring for his livestock.

Outside of his work, Billy enjoyed playing dominoes with friends and had a talent for auctioneering. He had a knack for entertaining others with his stories and made many lasting memories with his loved ones.

Billy was a member of First Baptist Church in Gonzales, where he witnessed the baptisms of both his children. His faith was an integral part of his life, providing him with strength and guidance.

Family was of utmost importance to Billy, and he is survived by his son and wife, Billy Parker Jr. and Lori Parker; his daughter, Ruth Ann Parker; his former spouse, Linda Tallant; his grandchildren, Megan Benson (husband Jason), Tanner Hardcastle, Mackenzie Parker, Quinton Parker, and Hudsyn Parker; and his great-grandchild, Jackson Benson. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Malcomb Parker; his mother, Mayme Ruth Parker; and his brothers, Lewis Parker Jr. and Dale Parker.

A funeral service honoring Billy's life will be held at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas, on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 5 - 7 p.m. Contributions in Billy's memory may be made to First Baptist Church.
