Wanda Belle LaBuhn, 89 of Gonzales and formerly of Pearsall, passed away Saturday, March 31. Wanda was born Aug. 25, 1928 in Kingsville to Louis Lee and Vivian Turner Lee. She married Jack Walter LaBuhn on Nov. 3, 1951 in San Antonio.

Wanda was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dilley and had served as President of the Frio County Child Care Board for 37 years. She had also been a member of the Altar Society, a sponsor of the St Peter and Paul Catholic Church Youth Choir where she also taught a catechism class.

Wanda grew up in Gatesville, Devine and San Antonio where she attended Breckenridge High School. She was working as a waitress in San Antonio when she met Jack LaBuhn who was serving in the United States Army Air Corps. After marrying they moved to Trenton, Michigan before moving back to San Antonio via several stops throughout the west. Settling in New Braunfels Wanda and Jack raised their family before finally settling in Pearsall in 1977.

Wanda loved children; she was a devoted to her family and the Frio County Child Care Board. She was caring, hardworking, loved the Lord and loved all things that had to do with improving the lives of children. Wanda loved to read and work on cross-word puzzles. She loved gospel, swing and country music, but nothing moved her soul more than family and children.

Wanda Belle LaBuhn is survived by her loving family, daughters and sons-n-law, Donna Joan and Angel Reyes of Del Valle, Debra Joyce and Charlie Aleman of Gonzales, sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Charles LaBuhn of Spring Branch, Michael Walter and Carolyn LaBuhn of New Braunfels, Kevin Mark and Diane LaBuhn of New Braunfels, sister, Patsy Jarvis of San Antonio, 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Richard Wayne LaBuhn and a brother, Don Lee.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in RockPoint Church, 500 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, Texas 78154 with her grandson Kenneth Reynolds officiating. Interment services will be held at a later date in Ft. Sam Houston, National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers friends make memorial donations to the Frio County Child Care Board, 305 South Elm Street, Pearsall, Texas 78061.
