Johnnie David Hall, Sr., 71, of Gonzales, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018. Johnnie was born Dec. 1, 1946 in Gonzales County to Lloyd Louis Hall and Johnny B. Baker Hall. He married Linda E. Wiley on June 24, 1966 in Gonzales. Johnnie was a member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church and the Gonzales VFW Post 4817.

Johnnie grew up in Gonzales and graduated from Gonzales High School with the class of 1965. He worked in the oil fields after graduating, married his lifelong sweetheart Linda in 1966 and in 1967 he was drafted into the U.S. Army as an infantryman. Johnnie served his country faithfully in the midst of the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged from the regular Army in 1969.

He returned to Gonzales and went into law enforcement, working as a patrolman for the Gonzales Police Department. Johnnie took his interests in law enforcement to Luling where he served as assistant chief. As oil production increased, Johnnie went back into the oil fields before partnering with Millard Sloan in S&H Roofing Company. In 1995 Johnnie retired from roofing allowing his son Sam to take over the business.

Johnnie loved to hunt and fish. He was a strong willed man, a family man and a good husband, father and provider. He loved to tell stories and had an amazing wit. He lived his life abundantly but even more so after becoming a Christian.

Johnnie is survived by his loving family, wife of 51 years, Linda Hall; daughters, Misty Mechelle Kuntschik and husband Greg, and Brandy Ann Hall; son, Johnnie David Hall, Jr. and wife Missy; sisters, Barbara Marshall and husband Bill of The Villages, Fla. and Kathy Hall of Gonzales; father-in-law, William Edwin Wiley of Gonzales; grandchildren, Greg Kuntschik, Jr., Kevin Kuntschik and wife Kirstie, Ryan Brown, Cassidy Brown, Keegan Hall, Kalin Hall, Amberleigh Watson, Keaton Kuntschik, Hailey Hernandez, Autumn Hernandez, Samantha Kuntschik, Carlie Hernandez and Damian Hernandez; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Bentley, Ethan, Braylin and Greyson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Sam Hall; and a grandson, Jonathan Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in Gonzales Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Johnnie Hall, Jr., Kalin Hall, Keaton Kuntschik, Kevin Kuntschik, Damian Hernandez and Charles Pierpont.
