Waelder ISD has two spots to fill before Aug. 1

The Waelder ISD Board of Trustees hopes to fill two more teaching positions by Aug. 1.

“We still have two positions available,” Superintendent Mark Weisner told board members Monday night. ”We will start interviewing tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll have some good news on that by our meeting on August 1.

“We had a young lady who was hired,” Weisner said. “Unfortunately, her mother had an accident and she (the applicant) is the only child. So she now has to get her mother back to health. She didn’t know the timeline, and she didn’t want to put us in a bind. It was very nice of her to call us and let us know, so the English teacher position has reopened.”

Weisner said that the two teaching positions are going to be high school English and either junior high or high school social studies.

“The social studies location will depend on how many qualifications the first position (English) person has, and their amount of certifications,” he said.

Weisner also said there is going to be a volleyball camp in Waelder for junior high and high school girls. The morning camp is Aug. 6-8 from 9 a.m. until noon at the junior high, and the afternoon camp is from 1-3 p.m.

The membership fee is $10 and can be paid at Waelder ISD.
