Tuesday, April 2, was a day of surprises and recognition as the five Gonzales Independent School District Teachers of the Year were named.

Gonzales ISD Superintendent Dr. Elmer Avellaneda joined principals at the campuses along with cheerleaders and members of the Mighty Apache Band in publicly saluting these exceptional educators in front of their students, fellow staff members and families.

Teachers of the Year for 2023-24 include:

• Jessica Bouler, Gonzales Primary Academy.

• Julie Belin, Gonzales Elementary School.

• Alexandra Finch, Gonzales North Avenue.

• D’laine Easley, Gonzales Junior High School.

• Christy Day, Gonzales High School.

“Their unwavering commitment and remarkable impact on their students serve as an inspiration to us all,” the district said in an announcement.

The district Teacher of the Year will be named at a later date.
