Yoakum ends Lady Mustangs season in Bi-District

The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs season came to an end in Flatonia in a 12-2 single-elimination bi-district loss to the Yoakum Lady Bulldogs in the 3A UIL Softball playoffs.

The Lady Mustangs and Lady Bulldogs kept the match close with Nixon-Smiley trailing, 2-1, into three innings.

Yoakum would score 10 of the next 11 runs to knock out the Lady Mustangs from the first round of the playoffs. It was the second time in three years Nixon-Smiley had lost to Yoakum in the playoffs.

The Lady Mustangs finished the season with 10-16 record with a 6-2 second place finish in District 26-3A and were named bi-district finalist for the second year in a row.

The Lady Mustangs will return to the softball field in Spring 2025.
