Woman injured in early morning shooting

Gonzales police are looking for the person who fired gunshots which injured a female victim early Monday, Jan. 8.

Lt. Jason Montoya with the Gonzales Police Department said GPD received a call at about 4:30 a.m. Monday from a female individual advising that she had been shot. The incident took place in the 1100 block of St. Andrew Street.

When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered the female victim with a gunshot wound to her leg and provided first aid. Gonzales County Emergency Services District No. 1 EMS was called out and responded to the residence, transporting the victim to Gonzales Memorial Hospital to be treated. 

Gonzales Police Department is working on this active investigation, noting several gun shots were fired, striking the front of the home and one of the bullets striking the female victim on the leg.
