RWOYA announces local candidate forum in Yoakum

A local candidate forum, hosted by the Republican Women of the Yoakum Area for candidates in Lavaca, Gonzales, and DeWitt Counties, is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Yoakum Community Center, 105 Huck St., Yoakum.  

Forum time schedule

• Candidate’s Table Setup at 4 p.m.

• Doors open to the public at 5 p.m.

• Meet and Greet the Candidates with Light Refreshments available from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

• Program Forum with questions begins at 6 p.m. for local contested candidates. Unopposed candidates and officials will be recognized. 

Invitations for participation in the forum have been sent to local contested candidates. Candidates for Sheriff, County Attorney, Commissioners, Constables and District Judges have confirmed attendance. 

Opposed candidates will speak and be asked questions by a moderator.

Campaign materials and signs will be available at local candidate’s tables.

Republican Women of the Yoakum Area has both women and men members from Lavaca, Gonzales, and DeWitt counties.

Meetings are the second Wednesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at the Yoakum Community Center. Informative speakers provide the program. Light lunches are provided with free will donation appreciated. Visitors are welcome.
