New Tourism Development Director named

GONZALES — During a regularly-scheduled noon meeting yesterday, Thursday, Sept. 14, the Gonzales Convention and Visitor Bureau announced Gonzales' new Tourism Development Director.
Clint Hill, GCVB director and owner of several bed and breakfast venues has accepted the position.
Barbara Crozier, GCVB board president said the interview process was arduous and many great applicants were reviewed.
“We are very, very excited about our work forward," Crozier said. “I think it is going to make us more effective."
Crozier and the board wished Hill good luck, as he proceeds.
"I am excited to see you implement some of the crazy brainstorms that come out of this wonderful, dedicated group of volunteers," Crozier said.
Hill was humbled by the welcome he got in his new position.
"I am honored I was chosen for this position," he said. "We obviously have a lot of challenges ahead of us, but we have many, many huge assets here in our community, making up one tremendous asset."
Hill looks forward to working with the board in this new capacity and to promoting Gonzales.
Hill is expected to resign from his position on the board in October.

After years of underutilizing the city's tourism video, Hill announced the upcoming Grandeur of Gonzales e-book edition will include a direct link to the video. Crozier added the video will be uploaded to the local public access station.
Board members will be announced at the next meeting of Gonzales City Council, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Gonzales Municipal Building.
Hill will be attending Home and Garden Shows in Houston and in San Antonio this fall. While at the shows, Hill will set up a Gonzales display and be on hand to talk about the city and everything Gonzales has to offer.
Back in Gonzales, Happy Fall Y'all is set for Oct. 21. Gonzales Main Street has partnered with the Lynn Theater for an outdoor showing of Hocus Pocus to punctuate a day filled with costume contests, Lions Club Trunk-or-Treat activities, hay rides, games and much more.
Plans for Winterfest are well under way. The annual Organ Concert at First Presbyterian Church, The Rotary Club's Breakfast with Santa, Stars in the Village (at Pioneer Village), and a parade are all set for Saturday, December 2. In conjunction, the library will be open, with teen volunteers reading Christmas Stories and there is also talk of a window decorating contest for local businesses and organizations.
The GCVB is still working on having a Spring Garden Tour, but has set no days for the event. The bureau is looking to partner with another event or organization to make the event a weekend-long experience.
The next meeting of the GCVB will be noon, on October 12, at Gonzales Municipal Building.
