La Coste out as GHS CEO

Gonzales Healthcare Systems is parting ways with Michael La Coste, less than four months after he began working as the new hospital CEO.

“There was a mutual decision made last night (Tuesday, Nov. 1) at the board meeting, by the Board of Directors and CEO Michael La Coste, that Mr. La Coste will no longer serve as GHS CEO, effective immediately,” GHS director of advertising and public relations Holly Danz told the Inquirer.

“CFO/COO Brandon Anzaldua will be leading our organization for the time being. We won’t be commenting any further regarding this personnel matter.”

La Coste came to Gonzales in mid-July from Steward Healthcare in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after he was hired to replace former CEO Gerald Parton. Anzaldua was just promoted to chief operating officer in September and has been chief financial officer of the hospital since December 2019.

Gonzales Healthcare Systems is a county hospital district, but is managed by QHR Health out of Nashville, Tennessee.
