Gregory Francis Peterek, 69, of Gonzales, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 25. Greg was born in Gonzales on Aug. 16, 1948 as the fourth of six children born to Willie and Stella Novak Peterek.

Greg started working at an early age at Peterek Grocery for his father. Growing up Greg was an exceptional athlete, excelling at football and baseball throughout his school career.

Greg graduated from Gonzales High School in 1966 and from Texas A&M in 1970, with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He came back to Gonzales to begin his career as a CPA in partnership with Bobby Eckols. Greg later joined the firm of Roloff and Hnatek in Victoria before eventually opening his own accounting and financial advising practice, Peterek and Associates, Inc. Greg was also a real estate broker and the owner of Peterek and Associates Real Estate.

Greg was an upstanding member of the Gonzales community devoting time and efforts to various organizations, including the Board of Directors of the Gonzales County Health Foundation, Gonzales Healthcare Systems where he had served as board Chair for several years, Happy House, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

In 1977, Greg married Jean Johnson and together they raised two children, Lana and Greyson, and three grandchildren: Will, Jack and Cole. Greg was a devoted father raising his two children and he adored and cherished the time he spent with his grandsons.

Greg is survived by his loving family, daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Sean DuBose of Austin, son, Greyson Peterek of Bastrop, grandsons, Will, Jack and Gregory Cole DuBose of Austin, sisters, Janet Smith and Debbie Drasta, brothers, Bill Peterek and wife Terry, Allen Peterek, David Peterek and wife Jill, and numerous nieces and nephews all of which he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Gary Smith and his mother-in-law, Bobbie Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29 in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in the Hermann Son’s Cemetery. Pallbearers: Ben Peterek, Jason Newman, Tim Markham, Mike Davis, Todd Smith, and Tom Johnson. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Gonzales.
