Apaches compete at district meet
The Gonzales Apache JH cross-country teams competed in the district cross meet on Tuesday in Seguin, with the 7th grade boys and girls taking second in their respective races. Ravyn Lookabill placed first and Tiana Smith placed second in the 7th grade race.
The 8th grade boys and girls both finished fourth in their respective races.

7B football holds intra-squad game, white team defeats orange
The Gonzales 7B football team held an intra-squad game, with the white team beating the orange team.
Quarterback Cree Stowers scored two touchdowns on a 24-yard and 16-yard runs to lead the white team to victory. Chris Salinas scored a two-point conversion.

7A football takes down Yoakum
The Gonzales 7A football team beat Yoakum 28-22.
Tyler Riojas was the offensive player of the game, scoring a game-winning touchdown on a 32-yard run as the time expired. Riojas also scored on a four-yard touchdown run and converted a two-point conversion. Max Castillo scored on a 24-yard run.
Meanwhile, Kamren Leal connected with Riojas on an 18-yard touchdown strike. Demetrius Segura threw a pass to Weston Ruddock on a 23-yard reception. Blake Wright scored on a two-point run.
Davonte Smith and Camren Ramirez were defensive players of the game.

8B holds intra-squad game, orange team prevails
The Gonzales 8B football team held an intra-squad game, with the orange team beating the white team 20-6.
On the orange team, Jorge Alanis scored two touchdowns on runs of 10 and 14 yards. Davion Cardenas scored on an eight-yard rush.
The white team scored on a 72-yard kickoff return touchdown by Bryce Brown.
Gianni Martinez and Aidan Hernandez were defensive players of the game.

8A team moves to 3-0 after victory
The Gonzales 8A team defeated Yoakum to move to 3-0 in the season.
Carlos Verastegui had an outstanding night running the ball, scoring on an 84-yard run for the first play of the game. Verastegui had two more touchdowns, one from eight yards out and one from 12 yards out. He also added a two-point conversion later in the game.
Jarren Johnson scored a four-yard touchdown as he squeezed passed the Bulldog defense on a quarterback sneak.
Joseph Eleby out-jumped the defensive cornerback to score on a 12-yard fade from Joe Canales. Eleby also scored a two-point conversion.
Ethan Crouch scored on a speed-out route thrown from Jarren Johnson for two points. Derrick Garza scored on a 17-yard power run.
Defensive players of the game were Derrick Garza, Jorge Amador and Josh Esparza. Offensive players of the game were Carlos Verastegui and offensive linemen Gage Cardenas, Dustin Schutte, Michael Casares, Kael Lopez and Lane Thiele.

Gonzales 8th grade teams beat SA Brooks Academy
Both 8th grade teams for the Lady Apaches defeated SA Brooks Academy in three sets last week.
The 8B team won (25-8, 27-25, 25-17) while the 8A team won (13-25, 25-18, 25-23).
Both teams are now 3-2 in the season.

Gonzales 7th grade teams take down SA Brooks Academy
Last week, both 7th grade teams won against SA Brooks Academy.
The 7B team defeated Brooks Academy in three sets, (25-26, 20-25, 25-15). Top scorers were Kynleigh Schroeder with 13 points, Bella Guerra with eight points and Julihanna Manuel with five points.
The 7B team is now 5-0.
Meanwhile, the 7A team won in two sets, (25-12, 25-21). Top scorers were Macy Sample and Paisley Ploeger.
The team’s record moved to 7-2.
