Driver killed in single-vehicle accident

First responders were called to the scene of a fatal crash Sunday, July 9 on Farm-to- Market Road 794 South, about seven miles north of Gonzales, at about 9:17 p.m.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ruben San Miguel reported the driver of a 2022 Ford Explorer, 29-year-old Rene Ramirez, “failed to negotiate a right curve.” His car went off the roadway, striking a tree on the southbound side.

Ramirez was declared deceased at the scene by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Deidra Voigt.

The fatal crash is still under investigation, San Miguel said.
