Daisy Marie Kelso

Daisy (Dee) Marie Kelso, 61, of Gonzales, passed away Friday, Nov. 19 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 1, 1949, in Nevada County, AR, to Chester and Vera Easterling Russell. She married her love, James Kelso, on Dec. 22, 1971, in Gonzales.

Dee graduated from the Milby High School Class of 1967 in Houston. She worked a few years for the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher until she accepted a secretarial position with the Texas Department of Public Safety, where she worked for 17 years. She enjoyed camping, reading, and playing slot machines. Her greatest enjoyment however, was caring for her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; and step-father, A.O. Reynolds. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years James Kelso of Gonzales; mother, Val Reynolds, of Harwood; step-daughter, Tammy Bell and husband Keith of Inez; step-sons, Kevin Kelso and wife Mary of Seguin, Shannon Kelso of Harwood, and Brandon Kelso and wife Julie of Round Rock; sisters, Charlotte Zimmerman of Moulton and Frances Mahan of Houston; grandchildren, Zhanay Drehr and husband Emit, Ashton Kelso, Krysta Kelso, Katelynn Bell, Jackson Kelso, Kassidy Kelso, Carson Kelso, Brayden Kelso, and Kylie Kelso; and great granddaughter, Haleigh Drehr.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Craven officiating. Interment will follow in Thompsonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Bell, Larry Caswell, Pat Davis, Jerry Krueger, Chris Wright, and Emit Drehr. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy White, Randy Martin, Jeff Mahan, and Ricky Caswell.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of traditional remembrances, memorials may be made to the Thompsonville Cemetery Association.
