Audrey Juanita Altman

Audrey Juanita Whitley Altman died on Saturday, March 15, 2008 in Austin. She was the only child of Annie Wolsch and Arthur Sidney Whitley. She was born on November 23, 1921 in Granger, but spent most of her childhood in Gonzales. She married Frank Lewis Altman on September 9, 1945 and lived in Austin and San Antonio. In 1960 she moved back to Gonzales where she lived until 2005. She was loved by many including her daughters, Carol Altman Gray of Benton, Arkansas and Lin Altman of Austin; grandsons, Russell Austin Gray of Benton, Arkansas and Whitley Compton Broders of Austin; great-granddaughter, Kaelyn Amanda Gray of Benton, Arkansas.

Juanita was a well known local artist. Her paintings most often celebrated the Texas landscape she loved. She taught private art lessons for many years and her work graces many homes and businesses throughout the United States.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Rev. Diana Whitley officiating.
