Nixon-Smiley's press too much for Charlotte

NIXON — The Lady Mustangs grabbed their first win of the season with a dominating 71-16 win at home over the Charlotte Trojanettes.

Their 31-point first quarter effort proved to be the difference.

Celeste Arriaga led the team in scoring with 27 points, while also coming away with five steals and a defensive rebound. Lexi Trammell had 16 points, one rebound and one rebound while Tyhana Mejia had 16 points and five steals. Christy Perez led with six steals.

Nixon-Smiley was 42 percent shooting, getting most of their points from fast breaks after steals. The team totaled 20 steals.
