Shiner St. Paul falls in high-scoring bout

GIDDINGS — Shiner St. Paul’s season is over with a 59-31 loss to the Bay Area Christian Broncos.

The Cardinals massed a ton of yards as they ran for 333 yards while gaining 67 yards over the air, though ultimately they were unable to find the end zone enough to match the Broncos attack.

After being down 17-15 at the half, Shiner St. Paul gave up 42 points in the second half while only scoring 16 of their own.

Jed Janecek led the team in rushing with 130 yards on 16 rushes and three touchdowns. T.J. Bell was right behind with 24 rushes for 127 yards and one score while Austin Barton rushed 16 times for 63 yards.

The Broncos offense had multiple contributors, with John David Bishop rushing eight times for 143 yards and a score. Quarterback Tyler Nuebauer also had a touchdown as he rushed six times for 70 yards. He would go 9-of-12 for 227 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions.
