GONZALES — Two men were jailed after a Saturday night bar brawl.

Police and witnesses said the fight resulted in a number of patrons being pepper-sprayed. Another participant in the disturbance threatened to kill an employee at the bar.

At about midnight Saturday, Aug. 22, Officer Victor Izaguirre was dispatched to the Silver Star Saloon at the 800 block of St. Paul St. in reference to a fight in progress, Capt. Allen Taylor reported. Upon arrival, Izaguirre met with Sgt. Drew Nidey, and both officers spoke with the bar owners. During the discussion, Izaguirre heard yelling coming from the parking lot, and turned around in time to see a man identified as Kenneth Clark Rodgers Jr., 33, of Gonzales, pepper spraying another man.

When Sgt. Nidey went to stop Rodgers, he came in contact with pepper spray, Taylor said. Rodgers was arrested for assault on a public servant and taken to the Gonzales County Jail.

Meanwhile, as Officer Dustin Kincaid was gathering information from witnesses at the bar, Kincaid heard a man yell, “I’m going to f-ing kill you,” directing the comment to Rodgers. Kincaid identified the man who issued the threat as Kevin Ryan Robinson, 26, of Gonzales, and arrested him. Robinson was transported to Gonzales County Jail and charged with terroristic threat.
