GONZALES —A Gonzales man was taken into custody March 6 after a pre-dawn raid by local authorities and the Seguin SWAT team resulted in the confiscation of illegal drugs and guns.

Gonzales Police Chief Tim Crow reported that in the early morning hours of March 6, officers — along with the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office —  served a search warrant in the 1200 block of St. Andrew Street for narcotics.

“We utilized the Seguin S.W.A.T. team to secure the house,” Crow said. “Once the house was cleared investigators from both the Gonzales Police Department and Gonzales Sheriff’s Office conducted a search for narcotics.”

Crow said police found four guns in the house along with drugs: six ounces of methamphetamines, 22 grams of powder cocaine, six grams of crack cocaine and nine grams of marijuana were seized along with an unspecified amount of cash, the guns and a car.

Angel Isidro Hernandez, 28, was arrested for delivering 2.6 grams of methamphetamines from a drug deal the day before when he sold an undercover police officer the drugs, additional charges were filed for the contraband officers found at the home.

Hernandez was later released on a $98,000 bond.

“While conducting an interview with the driver, Schwake asked the driver for consent to search his vehicle and Davis — which Davis granted,” Crow said.

“A package of methamphetamines was located in Davis’ front pants pocket.”

Davis was subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance and taken into custody at the Gonzales County jail, where he remains in lieu of $5,000 in bond.
