Come out and celebrate 247 years of American independence when Gonzales Main Street presents its annual Star-Spangled Spectacular Fourth of July on Tuesday, July 4, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Independence Square.

There will be food trucks, live music and a fireworks show that will light up the sky faster than you can say “Oh, say can you see!”

Children’s activities include a patriotic bike decorating contest and parade sponsored by VFW Post 4817, balloon animals, water slides, a petting zoo and more.

The music kicks off at 6 p.m. with Cheyenne Saenz, a country singer/songwriter and musician from Von Ormy, performing until 7 p.m. From 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Los Escorpiones del Norte, led by Danny “Chuco” Banegas, take the stage to get you up off your feet and rocking to the beat.

Then, from 9:45 p.m. to 11 p.m., Conjunto icon Jaime DeAnda will be the headliner and you can see him just 11 days before he is inducted into the Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and Museum in San Benito on July 15. DeAnda has been a vocalist and master accordionist for more than four decades who continues to entertain and captivate audiences throughout the Lone Star State and beyond.

The fireworks show begins at dark. And you can get your drink on with your favorites from the 5D Travelin’ Tavern.

Other sponsors include GVEC, Texas Farm Bureau, J Bar B Foods, TNW Corporation, City of Gonzales, BYK, H-E-B, TXGN Railroad, CREW Men’s Store, DuBose Insurance, Sudz Car Wash, Energy Waste Rentals and your Gonzales Inquirer.
