William Batiste

William Batiste was born Dec. 7, 1941 to Sam and Rosie Batiste.

He attended Hebert High School and graduated in the class of 1961. He joined the U.S. Army in 1963. While serving in the military he met and married Donnella Quals. To this union, two children were born; Sharon Batiste Lopez and William L. Batiste. He later met and married Phyllis Batiste.

He was preceded in death by both parents; stepsons, Christian Sopsher and Anthony Davis; and brother, Walter Batiste.

William is survived by his wife, Phyllis Batiste; two children, William Batiste and Sharon Batiste Lopez; stepdaughter, Cheryl (Keith) Sanders; eight grandchildren; brother, Carl (Bertha) Alfred; sisters, Rose Nixon and Carolyn Evans of Beaumont, Texas; seven great grandchildren; two godsons; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 14 with visitation from 10-11 a.m. and service starting at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church 209 Capes Street Gonzales, Texas 78629. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas at 2 p.m.
