Wildcat ballers rewarded with postseason honors

Following their success in the 2019-20 boys basketball season, multiple players on the Waelder Wildcats were given all-district, all-region and all-state honors.

The Wildcats proved prognosticators wrong by winning the District 30-1A title as unbeaten champions. The team started the season unranked and finished it ranked fourth in all of Class 1A.

Named District 30-1A MVP was Isaiah Jones-Miller. Colby Thorne was named offensive player of the year for the district.

Meanwhile, Jacovan Fields and Junior Satterwhite were both named to the first team all-district. Orlando Ford and Alex Ford were both named to the second team.

Named to the first team All-Region IV-1A team were Isaiah Jones-Miller, Colby Thorne and Jacovan Fields. Jones-Miller was also named to the TABC All-State team.

First year head coach David Graves was named outstanding coach of the year, winning the TABC 2020 Don Coleman award for Class 1A.
