Undefeated district champs
Shiner St. Paul finished the district season unbeaten, knocking off Victoria Faith Academy last Thursday then San Antonio Gerard on Tuesday to go 6-0 in TAPPS 5-2A. The JV team is also undefeated in district play.
Lady Cards sweep Victoria Faith
The varsity team beat Victoria Faith Academy (25-9, 25-9, 25-18). Stats include:
Paige Brown one kill, two blocks, one dig; Aspen Flach one assist, six digs, one ace; Trinity Garza one assist, four digs; Grace Irvin seven kills, one block, nine digs, one ace; Riley Johnson nine digs; Hope Kapavik one kill, eight digs, one ace; Gracey Novosad nine kills, eight digs; Delynn Pesek nine kills, five digs, three aces; Cameron Pesek three kills, one block; Christine Wagner two kills, two blocks, seven digs, one ace, 29 assists.
The JV team won (25-20, 25-15). Stats include: Rebecca Wagner four kills, four digs, one ace; Sadie Thibodeaux three kills, seven digs; Maddie Stamport three kills, two digs; Lauryn Kubenka four kills; Maria Janacek one kill, two digs, three aces; Sydney Green two kills, one assist; Danni Blair nine assists, three digs, two aces.
St. Paul knock off St. Gerard for district title
The varsity team beat San Antonio St. Gerard (27-25, 25-12, 25-7) to finish their district season unbeaten. Stats include: Paige Brown five kills, one block, one dig; Aspen Flach three digs, two aces; Grace Irvin five kills, one block, eight digs, one ace; Riley Johnson four digs; Hope Kapacik one assist, six digs; Gracey Novosad eight kills, two assists, seven digs, three errors; Delynn Pesek 16 kills, two digs, five aces; Cameron Pesek five kills, two digs; Christine Wagner one kill, 37 assists, three digs, one ace.

Lady Apaches fighting for playoff spot
Gonzales split their last two District 30-4A games, losing to Navarro in three sets but then beating Poteet at home on Tuesday to move to 4-6, one game back from Cuero (5-5). The Lady Apaches need to win against Pleasanton (6-4) on Friday to remain in playoff contention. Gonzales beat the Lady Eagles in a previous match last month.
Gonzales then takes on SA Brooks Academy (0-11) on Tuesday while Pleasanton faces top-district contender La Vernia (10-0).

Nixon-Smiley search of district win, Luling remains top 4
The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs are in search of their first District 27-3A win after losing to Poth (25-11, 25-13, 25-12) last Friday and then to Yoakum (25-20, 25-27, 25-13, 25-19) to drop down to 0-8. Meanwhile, Luling split games, beating Stockdale in four sets but losing to Karnes City in four sets.
Nixon-Smiley take on Stockdale (1-7) on Friday, then Karnes City (7-1) on Tuesday for their season finale. Luling plays against Yoakum (4-4) and Poth (8-0). Yoakum finishes their district season against Stockdale.
