Verna Mae Braeuer Hunter

Verna Mae Braeuer Hunter, age 92, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22. She was born Sept. 13, 1924 in Gonzales County, Texas.

She was married to Cecil Eugene Hunter on Sept. 27, 1944 at First Lutheran Church in Gonzales, Texas, and were married for 41 years until his death in 1986.

She was a Lutheran.

Survivors: daughters, Carol Ann Key of Odessa, Texas and her husband Ron, and Betty Sue Wilkinson of Atoka, Tennessee and her husband Vernon; son, Jack Lynn Hunter of San Antonio, Texas and his wife Terri; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents, Edmund Carl and Norma Fehner Braeuer; husband Cecil Eugene Hunter; sister Viola Ullman; brothers Rudy Braeuer and Oscar Braeuer.

Visitation will begin 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 29 at First Lutheran Church in Gonzales, Texas, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. conducted by Pastor Ildiko Rigney and followed by the burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Yoakum, Texas at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
