GONZALES — Victoria College - Gonzales Center has received $145,000 in grant money to fund various projects around the campus.

According to Jackie Mickesh, manager of VC Gonzales Center, the funds will be split for several different uses.

The largest part of the funds, some $80,000, will be used for scholarship money for Gonzales County students, as well as some Lavaca County students.

According to Mikesh, $25,000 will be used to purchase a shrink-wrapped trailer to house the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Program. Currently the college shares trailer spaces between multiple programs.

Another $10,500, according to Mickesh, will be used to update the campus Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Lab.

The last bit of the funds will go to purchase a forklift for $30,000. The college had been borrowing a forklift from Gonzales Building Center up until now.
