Top medals won at Moulton Invitational

At last Saturday’s Moulton Invitational cross-country meet, many area athletes took home medals, with the Gonzales Lady Apaches finishing second as a team in the two-mile 3A-6A race, the Gonzales boys team placing fifth in their three-mile race, Shiner St. Paul Lady Cardinals finishing first and the Shiner Lady Comanches finishing third in the two-mile 1A-2A race and Shiner placing second and St. Paul placing fourth in the boys three-mile 1A-2A race.

Leading the pack for Gonzales was Veronica Moreno who finished first in her race with her time of 12:53, the lone runner who finish below 13 minutes in the 3A-6A race. On the boys side, Antonio Hernandez placed fifth overall while Avery Almaguer finished eighth.

In the 1A-2A race, St. Paul’s Julianna Davis finished second overall with her time of 12:34. Shiner’s Mari Grosenbacher finished third with her time of 13:43. On the boys side, Shiner’s Leo Crimella finished fourth and Aidn Seibert finished eighth. St. Paul’s Fisher Davis and Cade Davis finished 11^th and 12^th, respectively.

The following are all the times from area teams (Gonzales, Nixon-Smiley, Waelder, Shiner St. Paul and Shiner) in all the races:

3 Miles Varsity 3A-6A boys:

Gonzales finished fifth with 147 points, Nixon-Smiley finished 15th with 412.

Gonzales finished second with 56 points.

Shiner finished second with 81 points, Shiner St. Paul finished fourth with 105 points.

Shiner St. Paul took first with a score of 45 points. Shiner placed third with 70 points.
