Tomas Velasquez Molina, 85, of Gonzales, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016 at Gonzales Memorial Hospital in Gonzales.

Funeral mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home and will be held on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Buffington Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Terry Brennan officiating.

Tomas was born on Dec. 21, 1930 in Gonzales. He was the son of Juan Molina and Lucia (Velasquez) Velasquez. He was married to Frances Guerrero.

Tomas liked to go hunting, fishing and dancing. In his younger years, and in his later years, he liked having conversations and making people laugh. Tomas enjoyed telling stories, and it has been said that he could spin some yarns.

Tomas worked for Southern Clay. Tomas was a hard worker who loved and cared for his family.

Tomas is survived by sons, Thomas Molina of Mount Prospect, Ill., Louis Molina of Gonzales, Henry Molina of Gonzales; daughters, Elida Griffin of Gonzales, Delia Castillo and her husband, Manuel of Gonzales, Elaine Buchannon; sisters, Jesusa Almaraz of Waelder, Juanita Olmos of Gonzales, Aniceta Perales of Slaton; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Frank Guerrero of Crystal City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Lucia Velasquez; his loving wife, Frances G. Molina; sisters, Condelaria Perez, Teresa Molina; and brothers, Candido Molina, Fructoso Molina and Jose Molina.

Pallbearers are Thomas Molina, Louis Molina, Henry Molina, Michael Griffin, Jonathan Griffin, and Robert Garcia. Honorary pallbearer is Cosme Molina.
