Thelma O’Neal Barnett

Thelma O’Neal Barnett, age 97, of Smiley, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1 in San Antonio. Born Nov. 9, 1921 in Gonzales County, Thelma was one of 11 children born to Mr. and Mrs. A. W. and Birdie (Keith) O’Neal.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Rex H. Barnett; brothers, Bud, Wes, Floyd, Clebern and Emmitt O’Neal; sisters, Ola Ivey, Willie Goldman, Teresa Goldman and Estelle Brister; granddaughter, Kristen Barnett.

Thelma is survived by her sons, Sammy Barnett (Lugene) and Keith Barnett (Nancy); daughter, Lynda Barnett (Robert Ximenes); sister, Evelyn Mutschler; grandchildren, Woody Roberts (Marilyn Persyn), Chad Barnett (Jessica Baker), Maggie Gonzales (Jeff), Jonathan Barnett (Katelynn), Kollin Barnett (Lauren), Tracey Key (Lizzy) and Kristine Key (Jordan Willey); numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving family.

A visitation will take place Monday, Dec. 3 from 5-8 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel, Nixon.

The Reverend Marvin Miles will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Bundick Cemetery in Smiley.
