St. Paul, Nixon-Smiley, Waelder race in Weimar meet

WEIMAR — Shiner St. Paul, Nixon-Smiley and Waelder traveled to Weimar for a cross-country meet where the Shiner St. Paul team finding success as their varsity girls took second, the junior high girls placed first, the varsity boys took fourth and the junior high boys took first in their respective races. Meanwhile, Waelder took part in the JV race as the Wildcats took fourth in the boys’ JV race.

In the varsity girls’ race, leading the way was Danni Blair who took 16th overall with her time of 13:59. Right behind was Bailey Blair who placed 25th with her 14:25 finish. Trinity Garza took 26th with her time of 14:26 while Brooke Pesek was 28th with her time of 14:28. Riley Johnson finished in 42nd with her time of 14:43.

On the varsity boys’ side, the top five finishers for the fourth-place team were Walker Jackson taking 11th with his time of 17:18, Lane Jackson taking 14th with a time of 17:49, Cade Davis taking 18th with his time of 17:55, Frank Benese taking 73rd with his time of 20:01 and Sam Benese taking 97th with his time of 21:00.

For Nixon-Smiley, Modesto Limon placed 41st with a time of 19:05, Jesus Vasquez placed 60th with his time of 19:38 and Oscar Perez finished 78th with his time of 20:10. Other Mustangs include Fransisco Gonzales who finished at 22:08, John Alvarez at 22:23 and Joel Barajas at 26:36.

For the Waelder Wildcats, Tavion Thompson took 22nd overall with his time of 21:21. CJ Smith placed 43rd with his time of 24:00, Isiah Miller was 44th with his time of 24:05, Josh Miller was 51st with his time of 25:00 and Colby Thorne was 62nd with his time of 26:52.
