Apaches open district with 11-point victory

The Gonzales Apaches open District 30-4A play with a 64-53 road win over their rivals, the Cuero Gobblers. Gonzales (1-0) hosts Navarro (0-1) with tipoff scheduled at 7:45 p.m.

Lady Apaches looking for first district win

The Gonzales Lady Apaches lost their first two district games, losing to La Vernia 57-42 at home last Friday, Dec. 14 before losing to Cuero 54-41 on the road. Gonzales (0-2) hosts Navarro (3-0) on Friday with tipoff scheduled at 6:30 p.m.

Luling downed at home

The Luling boys basketball team lost 60-41 to Marion at home on Dec. 18. They travel to Yorktown on Friday, Dec. 21 for a 6:15 p.m. tipoff. They then travel to San Antonio to take on Cole High on Friday, Dec. 28 at 1 p.m.

Lady Eagles knock off San Antonio Cole

The previously state-ranked Luling Lady Eagles won 49-48 on the road against San Antonio Cole. Luling travels to Yorktown on Friday with tipoff scheduled at 6:15 p.m.

Waelder opens district with win

The state-ranked Waelder Wildcats opened District 30-1A with 69-35 victory over Prairie Lea. The Wildcats host Round Top-Carmine on Thursday, Dec. 20 with a 4:15 p.m. tipoff before traveling to Mumford for a tournament from Dec. 28-29.

Shiner St. Paul takes down Flatonia

The Shiner St. Paul Lady Cardinals beat Flatonia on the road 47-39. Gracey Novosad led the team in scoring with 15 points. She also had four rebounds, six assists and a team-leading four steals. Grace Irvin added 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals to the stat sheet while Christine Wagner had a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, one assist and three steals.
