Apaches run-ruled against La Vernia, Navarro
The Gonzales Apaches baseball team lost 17-1 against La Vernia last Friday, then 17-1 against Wimberley on Tuesday, dropping down to 1-5 in district play. They are scheduled to face Caldwell in non-district game against on Saturday before traveling to Austin to place Eastside Memorial for what potentially could be a playoff-clinching game. The Apaches threw a no-hitter the last time they faced Austin Eastside.
Lady Apaches lose in district games
Gonzales lost 14-1 to La Vernia at home last Friday, then 12-1 against Wimberley on the road. The Lady Apaches’ originally scheduled game against Columbus has been canceled. In its place is a game against Victoria St. Joseph on the road. Gonzales also added a warm-up game on April 23 where they will take on Schulenburg at home at 6 p.m.
Apache Athletic Banquet
J.B. Wells Expo Center, 6-8 p.m. The Apache Athletic Boosters are hosting their annual athletic banquet to honor Gonzales athletes at the Expo Center from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, with the meal catered by Belmont Social Club. Tickets can be bought at the Apache Field House until May 1.
Lady Mustangs end season with two losses
Nixon-Smiley lost two games over the week, losing 12-2 to Marion on Friday and 22-2 to Hallettsville on Tuesday. The Lady Mustangs end their district season 1-13, with their solo win a 19-13 decision over UC Randolph.
St. Paul blows out opponent in run-rule wins
Shiner St. Paul defeated San Marcos Hill Country 15-1 after an eight-run fourth inning put the team over the top. The Cardinals host New Braunfels Christian on Friday, with first pitch set at 6 p.m.
Lady Cardinals defeat New Braunfels Christian
The Shiner St. Paul Lady Cardinals won against New Braunfels Christian Academy 14-1, scoring four in the first, six in the third then four in the fourth for the 13-run win. St. Paul travels to Hallettsville tonight to take on their rivals Sacred Heart with first pitch set at 5:30 p.m.
G-Town Striders signups available
The G-Town Striders will hold registration this Saturday, April 21 at 5 p.m. at the Gonzales High School track. The registration fee is $100. Contact Quincy Johnson for details.
