Smiley to close streets for fall fest

Smiley City Council voted Oct. 17 to close portions of Steele, Anglin and Commerce St. for the city’s upcoming fall festival. The Smiley Bantam Activity Group event will be held at 4-9 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Smiley Community Center. Though the National Weather does not forecast rain in Smiley on Saturday, mayor Michael Mills mentioned there is a contingency plan in the event of inclement weather.

“If it rains that day, Billy and all of them said we can come down to the fire department,” Mills said.

Mills also mentioned there have been talks about moving the future events to the fire department, but no further actions have been taken yet. The family friendly festival features kids games, a bouncy castle, cake walk, coloring contest and a costume contest.
