SMILEY — City council voted to appoint Kathy Whitehead as Mayor Pro-Tem during their Oct. 26 meeting. Whitehead, who serves as a longtime council member, will replace former Mayor Pro-Tem Willie Ann Canion.
The council also appointed Linda Warzecha to replace former council member Bob Peck, who recently passed away. Warzecha will serve on the council until the upcoming May elections.
“We will put it up for election for the unexpired one-year term,” Mayor Ellis Villasana said.
Additionally, the council approved Ellis Villasana, Willie Ann Canion, Kathy Whitehead and City Secretary Rebecca Mejia as signatories for the city’s bank account. This authorizes those people to sign checks for city business.
