Sammie Ray Halliburton, 85, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016.  He was born September 18, 1931 in Waelder, TX the son of Willie and Rosie Halliburton.  He attended school in Waelder.  He married Mary Belle Pick on July 5, 1952.  Sammie served in the U.S. Army and later worked for General Telephone for 42 years.  He loved deer hunting and spending time outdoors.  He enjoyed sightseeing and traveling around the United States and Canada.  He was a talented craftsman and built the interior of their log home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of LaGrange.  He is survived by his wife Mary Halliburton of LaGrange; sister Verna May Burney of Palestine; sisters-in-law Annie Halliburton of Port Lavaca and Barbara Schroeder and husband Richard of Harwood; brother-in-law Ronald Pick and wife Jonell of Gonzales; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Willie Earl Halliburton and James Manuel Halliburton. Visitation will be from 10a.m. until 11a.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Bill Watson officiating.  Interment will follow at the Harwood Cemetery. Pallbearers include Warren Edwards, Bobby Halliburton, James Burney, Dustin Catchings, Darrel Catchings and Charles Vannoy. Memorials may be made to the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter in LaGrange.  Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
