Robert Daniel Heil passed away at his home in Cost, Texas on Monday, June 4. A devoted husband, father, beloved grandfather he is most remembered for his loyalty and generosity. Mr. Heil was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on May 26, 1943 to Daniel Carl Heil and Stella Elvira (May) Heil. Upon completion of high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he proudly served his country. A lifelong resident of Texas, he spent more than 20 years in the oil and gas industry. His career with Aramco sent him to work abroad, in Saudi Arabia. Upon returning, he opened his own business in San Antonio.

He also renovated and sold homes in Corpus Christi, and Houston. He retired to his family’s farm in Gonzales, Texas, but continued to serve the community as an employee of the Nixon-Smiley School District.

He was a member of the Monthalia United Methodist Church in Cost. Mr. Heil was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Carl Heil; mother, Stella Elvira (May) Heil; wife, Phyllis Ann (Ashley) Heil.

Mr. Heil is survived by his two children and their spouses, Robert Benjamin Heil, Deborrah Heil Thomas and Mike Thomas; one sibling, Carolyn Garber; one grandchild, Blake Michael Thomas.
