Please pardon our dust

My name is Joe Southern and I’m the interim editor for the next couple of weeks at the Gonzales Inquirer.

Normally I am the editor of The Sealy News. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic and changes in personnel, I get to be with you fine folks for a while. Jose Torres has moved on to another opportunity and we wish him all the best. Your new editor needs some time to transition here, so for now it’s just us and Tania French, who is also assisting in this transition in several capacities. She is a newspaper consultant and former publisher of the Port Lavaca Wave.

The stories you see in the paper this week were done by Mr. Torres before he left, which is why it appears he is still editing the paper. As with most transitions it is inevitable that something will fall through the cracks or a mistake or two will be made. We humbly ask for your patience as we work through this. Please let us know of any errors and we will do our best to correct them.

In the meantime, we will do our best to make sure our readers are well informed about the happenings in our communities. If we are successful, the only change you should notice is the name on the byline of some of the stories.

I also want you to know that I’m not a complete stranger to the community. I’ve been to Gonzales several times in the last few years, mostly as a member of the Texas Army during the Come and Take It Celebration. Gonzales is a cool community and I look forward to getting to know it and the people better in the next couple of weeks.
