Peggy Jean Pawelek-Mendez

Peggy Jean Pawelek-Mendez, age 60, entered eternal rest in New Braunfels, TX Friday, August 14, 2020. She was born March 16, 1960 to Isidore and Ella Nora (Krueger) Pawelek, Sr. and raised in Nixon, TX. Peggy was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years; David Mendez, mother; Ella Nora Pawelek, sons; Andreas Young, Jr. (Lindy), Ethan Wayne Young, David William Mendez, daughters; Lisa Stevens (Richard), Kimberly Anne Mendez, brothers; Isidore Pawelek Jr., Harvey Pawelek, Mark Pawelek, sisters; Caroline Griffin McWilliams, Sally Hobbs, grandchildren; Averie, Elizabeth, Kinsley, Jake, Henry; Fur Baby Molly; numerous nieces, nephews, as well as other loving family members and many dear friends. Peggy retired after 25 years of employment with Nixon-Smiley CISD. She enjoyed many positions with the school, but her love was serving as Librarian for Nixon-Smiley Elementary.  Peggy dedicated many years of service to the Nixon-Smiley Little League. Peggy was a Lifetime Member of the American Legion Mahan-Patteson Post # 547 Ladies Auxiliary. In her pastime she enjoyed baking, home decorating, floral arranging, “antiquing” and going to the coast. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family. 

A visitation will take place Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel, Nixon, Texas.
