Patricia Ruth “Patsy” Darilek

Patricia Ruth “Patsy” Darilek, 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020.  Patricia was born Mar. 17, 1940 in Gonzales to Louis and Angelina Volf Malatek. She married Michael Joseph Darilek on June 20, 1959 at St. James Catholic Church in Gonzales. Patricia was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Czech Heritage Society of Texas, the Catholic Daughters of America and the St. James Altar Society.

Patricia was born in her family home in Gonzales County. The youngest of four girls, she was always a challenge for her older sisters growing up on the farm. She loved animals and always had a pet dog next to her side. During high school she worked at the local Dairy Mart and married her high school sweetheart in 1959 at St. James Catholic church after graduating from Gonzales High School in 1958.  Patsy and Mike lived in San Antonio for 31 years and moved back to Gonzales in 1986 to take over the family ranch that she grew up on. She shared her many talents with others throughout the community where she could make a difference. She loved working with children and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Patricia Ruth Darilek is survived by her loving family; husband of 61 years, Michael Joseph Darilek; daughter and sons-in-law, Peggy Suzanne and Jerry Shepherd, Brenda Lea and Jimmy Tuma all of Gonzales, sisters; Elsie Stepan of Burleson and Evelyn Wilkinson of Cedar Creek, grandchildren; Justin Shepherd (Morgan), Andrew Shepherd (Nicki), Kaitlyn Tuma, Kassidy Tuma, Bailey Blair and Danni Blair.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Lilian “Lily” Malatek.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary following at 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Jason Martini officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jerry Shepherd, Jimmy Tuma. Justin Shepherd, Andrew Shepherd, Tommy Schurig and Kenneth Kuntschik. Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, rosary, funeral mass and graveside burial rite.  Those remotely symptomatic of COVID-19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
