Nixon OKs library roof replacement

Posted

The Nixon City Council unanimously voted to replace the roof on the Aphne Pattillo Nixon Public Library pending a future budget amendment. According to City Manager Harold Rice, the project is estimated to cost $10,000.

Rice said wind damage necessitated council taking urgent action on the replacement. As of the Nov. 18 council meeting, Rice said there is no apparent water damage at the library.

This roof replacement follows a renewal of the roof on the United States Postal Office in Nixon, a project which was completed in late October 2019. The phrasing of the agenda item means council approved the project but will need to reconvene to approve a budget amendment to pay for it. The Nixon City Council’s next meeting is expected to be Dec. 9.
