Newton Leon (Lonnie) Lang was called to his heavenly home on June 5, 2016 by the Lord. Newton was born in Gonzales, TX on December 29, 1932 to Fred H. and Neva Staton Lang. Newton graduated from Gonzales High School in 1951 and went on to attend Texas Tech University where he graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1956. After graduation, he served in the Army and then began his career as a Reservoir Engineer. His career spanned for over 30 years which included employment with Amerada Petroleum Corporation, Dow Chemical Oil and Gas Division and Apache Oil Corporation. He was a registered profession Engineer in Texas and New Mexico. Just recently, he had achieved his 50th year award for being a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He was a member of Second Baptist Church on Woodway and was the former Class Director for The Gospel Truth Bible Class as well as an usher for the church.

Proceeded in death by his parents, baby sister Jessie and a beloved brother-in-law Louis Hardamon, Newton is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janie, his daughter Lisa, his precious 8 year old twin grandchildren Peyton and Tripp, sister-in-law Ruth Hardamon, and many nieces and nephews.

The Lang family will be present to receive friends Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77079. The Funeral Service will commence Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Hankamer Chapel at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Dr., Houston, TX 77057. A reception will follow services on the church campus. Mr. Lang will be laid to rest later that same day at 3:00 PM in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas.
