The Gonzales community recently welcomed Kim Tucker as its new interim director with the Economic Development Corporation.

Born and raised in Bellville, Texas, Tucker graduated from Bellville High School. She then obtained her Texas Real Estate License, which she’s had since 1983. She has also held a PECD (Certified Professional Community and Economic Developer) position from 2008-2020, which is administered through the Community Development Institute.

“I spent countless hours of training and conferences over the span of 17 years at the City of Sealy to further my education and dedication to the development of economic and employment opportunities for our community and county,” Tucker noted.

Tucker added that she has served on various boards, including the Blinn College Sealy Advisory Committee as well as several committees for the Houston-Galveston Area Council.

“I retired from the City of Sealy, Texas in September 2018,” she said. “During those 17 years I also served as the assistant director of finance and office manager prior to becoming the executive director for the Sealy Economic Development Corporation.”

Tucker said she most recently worked as an administrative assistant for the Austin county judge and Austin county treasurer’s office. She then began work as the GEDC interim executive director on April 20 of this year.

“As interim executive director, I am currently working on the COVID 19 Business Grant recently implemented prior to my beginning date,” Tucker said. “Also, I will begin working on the budget for [fiscal year 2020-21] and have already started on updating the GEDC website.”

All in all, Tucker said she has enjoyed meeting and working with the city staff and GEDC board members.

“I am looking forward to the days ahead when I can visit with local businesses in Gonzales,” she said.
