Mustangs routed in final non-district game

NIXON — Nixon-Smiley (2-3) hosted their final non-district game of the season, a 43-6 loss to Falls City (3-2).

After giving up 36 straight points, the Mustangs finally got on the board on a 45-yard touchdown run by Colby Newman late in the third quarter. Falls City then scored again in the fourth, ending with a final score of 43-6.

Newman led the team in rushing, running the ball 19 times for 88 yards and a score. Defensively, Elix Carillo forced a fumble and Newman recovered it. Newman also led the team in solo tackles with 10. Dominc Ramos had six solo and six assisted. Chris Brown had four solo and six assisted.

Nixon-Smiley is on a bye this week but then take on Karnes City (2-3) on the road on Oct. 13.
